A Little Writing News

I got word last weekend that my story "Last Dance" about the cowboy-turned-dude-wrangler Hobb was accepted into the National Undergraduate Literature Conference. It was good news especially since I had just finished another Hobb story called "The Cliff." It feels good to do some writing again.

Sweet!

I didn't know they dealt in original fiction. Do they have awards or anything, or is it more of a collegial thing where you read, then field questions and comments? Or some of both?

In my junior year of at Willamette University, I submitted a paper on Chaucer and presented it at the NULC. It was a good experience.

From what I remember, there's a lot of good stuff going on there...plus (though I haven't heard anything about recent conferences) they tend to get guest speakers that big graduate/professorial-level conferences would kill for, and don't generally get.

Congrats--enjoy the conference! And be sure to let us know how it goes.

So, this is the news I was hearing about. Well, this is so cool. I am so proud of all the writers in this family. It is as if everyone is catching the wave. You will be letting everyone know the results or maybe passing the manuscript along to people who care. I am very proud. Write on!!!

I enjoy the NULC very much. I got in three out of the four years I submitted, once with Lackhand. I really like the authors they have come there, and I have really enjoyed all of the Chaucer I have read. I would have liked to have heard you read your paper, Ing. I will probably make the story available for you to read, Mama, one way or an other. Thank you both for the encouragement.
